So today we just dropped almost $5,000 on flights and L’s having a minor heart attack. He’s definitely the saver and I’m the spender – but even this made me a little nervous! This summer we have two weddings back in Boston-area, so we book both of those flights. Then we booked our honeymoon, so now I’m just counting down the days (232 in case you were wondering).
Today I read an article about a bride who spent $4,500 and planned her wedding in five days. I know L wishes we could do that, but we both have too many family and friends. Okay, well some we can attribute to my expensive taste.
Today it was actually on the warmer side, so I wore short-sleeves! It’s funny – my mom keeps asking when I’m moving back to the northest, but with southern ‘winters’ like this, I’m not sure I will.

Today we are wedding cake testing in Asheville, which is conveniently close to our wedding venue in Lake Lure, North Carolina. I promised L that the cake could be his domain, so he picked out a potential baker and we’re headed to talk and taste along with PJ, his best man. We strolled in with zero ideas or perimeters, excited to eat our way into a sugar coma. Waynette of Sweet Promises Bakery was absolutely amazing. We started off looking through a HUGE book with all of her previous cakes and settled on a three-tier cake – the rest of the cake deets, I’ll reveal after the wedding. I love surprises, which is ironic because I hate keep secrets. So we’ll see how this goes!
Ironically, this is the dress that L proposed to me in, so it seems fitting that I wear it to our wedding cake tasting! It’s still a little chilly up here in the mountains, so I paired it with this floral cardigan. As an added bonus, I got to wear a regular bra because of the cardigan. Yes, I’m lazy and yes, I hate strapless bras.

Today my best friend from college Moose, her girlfriend J, my mom, and my future mother-in-law set off to Carrie’s Bridal in Atlanta to pick out my wedding dress! L and I are getting married next September. Sometimes it feels like years away, but when I’m looking at my to-do list it seems mighty close.
Going into the bridal appointment, I had never tried on any dresses and I had NO idea what I want (except that it had to be white). I was actually a little nervous – so the mimosas helped with that! Once I got to Carrie’s Bridal, I met my consultant Courtney. I tried on six or seven dresses that were totally different. When I found *my* dress, I didn’t want to take it off. When Moose started crying, I knew I found my dress.
I’m still in shock that the giant black bag in my closet is what I’m going to wear on my wedding day. I hate that I have to keep it a secret and not show L for almost an entire year. I’m really bad at secrets.

I officially have the best fiancé in the world. Hands down. Two of our good friends are getting married in Indiana but I’m staying in Atlanta to watch some pups during the holiday season. To make it to the wedding in time, L left this morning at 7am. Fifteen minutes after he left, I managed to lock myself out of the house. With no phone and no keys. Luckily I was able to borrow a phone from a very nice man (and by very nice man, I mean someone who was just now stumbling home from a night out and was very suspicious of me in my sweatpants begging to borrow his phone). L promptly turned around and made his way back here. Next time, I’ll remember the keys. For now, I’ll just thank my lucky stars for L.
Anyways, best wishes to the new Mr. and Mrs. Reese! You both are absolutely AMAZING and I’m so excited for you. Prepare for a upcoming celebratory night in Atlanta.
Today I’m planning on being the puppy fairy, as well as setting up from Christmas! L’s uncle got me this cardigan as an early Christmas present and it perfectly matched the striped shirt I already had on – score!

At first when we got engaged in March, September 2017 felt like a million years away. Now that we’re less than a year away, I feel so far behind! Tonight L and I watched Deadpool (obviously the most romantic movie we could find on television) and got to work at some wedding stuff!
Because I’m a perfectionist, I wanted to make our own website – the prefab ones from theknot.com just weren’t cutting it for me. I’ve been waiting on L to add in his groomsmen and finish up our proposal story – and he finally completed that tonight! Meanwhile, I finished writing out addresses and adding the stamps to our save-the-dates. As an added bonus, L even picked up sushi so we didn’t have to worry about cooking and cleaning. Overall, a successful night in the books.
As to my outfit, this morning really truly felt like fall. During this nice weather, I like to leave the heating/cooling off, but this morning I definitely woke up chilly! I wanted to wear a nice comfortable and big sweater and this J. Crew piece is one of my favorites! Since it’s a little on the big side, I paired it with a fun chunky necklace and some neutral shoes.

Today was my friend’s wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. Not going to lie, my favorite part was decorating their get-away-car! We covered it in streamers and balloons and wrote all over their car.
I can’t believe that L and I are getting married in September 2017. It may sound far away, but I am not prepared to do all of the planning – although I definitely want to steal a few ideas from my friend! It’s funny, my previous job was planning events… but not weddings. There’s so much that goes into planning a wedding and so many little nuances to plan. Are we doing a grand exit? What types of funny picture will we do? Who will seat the guests? There’s so much to think through!
Any advice from anyone who has already been through it all?

We’re back in North Carolina again this weekend for another wedding – this time for one of our favorite couples! The groom is one of L’s oldest friends and his soon-to-be-wife quickly became one of my favorite of L’s friends. She was so welcoming into their little friend group – and she actually came to visit me in Boston last year. I’m so excited to be in their wedding tomorrow!
