Day 132: Pre-trip!

Wohoo tomorrow we’re driving down to Disney! It’s about six hours from here, which is around how far it was from Boston to Ithaca, where I went to school – so I’m ready!

Today was spent doing all the little things like packing, laundry, vacuuming, etc. Well for me anyways. L was distracted by that little thing called NFL. Every year during this season, I completely lose L to his fantasy team. Maybe this is why I’m such a bad southern – football does nothing for me. Everyone at work goes bananas about their college football teams. Most of them didn’t even go to the school they support! It’s just confusing.

Anyways, I’m excited for our trip down to Disney and Universal and cannot wait to share with you all! Growing up, my cousin worked at Disney and lived right near the parks, so we had lots of family vacations because we could go pretty inexpensively. I went a few years back with my older sister and some friends to run the Disney half marathon and realized how fun Disney is for adults without children too. Drinking around the world at Epcot – yes please!

Any advice from fellow Disney fans?

Day 106, 107, and 108: Mama’s Visit!

So I’ve slipped up a bit the past few days, but I don’t regret it one bit because I got to hang out with my mama! Here’s a round up of the past few days:

Day 106: Today we went to the barn so she can see my pony Faith go! My mom loved her (almost as much as me), so that was awesome. We got back to the house and decided to spend the rest of the day being completely lazy – it was our vacation after all! The end of the night we spent playing gin rummy and drinking wine (my wine of the month is Chenin Blanc).

Day 107: This was probably my favorite day. I’ve lived in Atlanta for over a year (can’t believe it) and we have never been to the wineries that are only one hour ago! My mom and I made our way up through the winding mountains and made our way to two wineries: Frogtown Cellars Vineyards and Kaya Vineyard & Winery. Both featured some of the grape varieties that were pretty similar to the Finger Lakes wine I had in college. Think Viognier, Cayuga White, and Cabernet Franc. They paired great with hometown gossip and goldfish.

Because it was such an amazing day, I had to share some bonus pictures! Plus you can see my adorable mama. Fun fact about her, a bunny bit off her ring finger when she was a two year old. She actually made national news. When I was in college, I used to make her show people when she came to visit me.

Day 108: This was the saddest day (warning, my dramatic side is about to come out). I had to leave for work while my mom was still at my house. Damn those limited vacation days. Adulting is hard. My mom actually gave me this shirt when she came down here since I haven’t bought clothes in so long! She took these pictures too!

So there’s my recap of my mama’s visit. Up next, my trip to Ithaca!

Day 105: She’s baaaaack!

Last time my mom was in Atlanta, we had just moved into our new house (after a nightmare of a closing process) and I had just started my new job so I couldn’t take any time off. Now it’s almost a year later and I feel like so much has changed!

Anyways, this post is going to be short and sweet because my mom’s flight gets in at 7:44 (please don’t mess this up Spirit) and I’m two glasses of Sav Blanc in because I DON’T HAVE TO WORK TOMORROW!

Sorry if it seems like I’m yelling. Or bragging. I’m just thinking I’m going to love this working only Monday and Thursday of this week. I probably shouldn’t get used to it.

I love this shirt because it’s actually a sweater which is perfect for the frigid arctic they call my office. Plus I’m enjoying playing with printed pants. They’ve been popping up so much more at work lately.

Day 85: Disney Planning

While I’m far from being part of the Mouseketeer Club, but I’ve been lucky enough to go to Disney World a handful of times – I even ran the half marathon there once! On the other hand, L has never been. Neither has anyone in his family. So naturally, his brother’s husband and I took it upon ourselves to plan a family trip to Disney!
