Day 304: Fake Friday

Fun fact today is NOT my Friday – even though the volume of wine drank last night would tell you otherwise. Usually tonight is our game night with our group of friends but L and I were far too exhausted. We ended up spending the night catching up on TV shows and going to bed early. What happened to college-Rachael who could go out every night for a week straight?

I’m not going to lie. I absolutely hate this outfit. This morning I was exhausted and thought this all looked good together, but looking at it now I completely hate it. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Day 302: My Journey with AS

As most of you know, I have AS (or if you want to get formal: ankylosing spondylitis). When I first was diagnosed, I joined an online support group – which definitely gave me perspective. Recently in the group, they reached out asking for folks to submit testimonials on what dealing with AS has been like. I thought I’d share my video here (mainly because LB said it didn’t make her cringe – I have low standards).

Onto my outfit! Today I was in the mood for a pop of color – so I grabbed my most colorful ruffle top! I paired it with these awesome pants that feel new to me because I just got them hemmed (finally – it only took a year!).

Day 295: HOA Board

Remember when I decided to be on the HOA board was a good idea? Yeah, one month in and I’m starting to realize how much work it is! Tonight we had our first official meeting at our HOA board president’s house. I never realized how much goes into running these types of things. We kicked off the meeting with a long-winded discussion of the previous board, which hurt my little efficient heart. Anyways, I was voted Secretary (something about marketing people being good at writing?) and we talked about all the things we needed to do to keep the integrity of our complex. It was actually kinda scary and I’m glad that I’m not a full-blown homeowner yet because there’s a lot to consider.

Today I was feeling like layering. This skirt is one of my favorites, but its helm was messed up for a while and I finally got it fixed! I’m excited to start rotating it back into my rotation.

Day 291: I Belong in the 20’s

I was planning on going to bed early, but I was too riled up when I got home. After sitting in bed for two hours, I decided to just bite the bullet and get some work done around the house instead. Stormy was less than pleased – funny how he doesn’t care about waking us up in the morning but me swiffering was just far too much for him to handle. I know I just cleaned the house two days ago, but when I’m stressed or nervous, I go cleaning crazy, Maybe I should have grown up in the domestic women era. I bet there’s a Buzzfeed quiz for that. Update: yes there is here and apparently I should have grown up in the 20’s. You’re welcome.

I should make a Friday ‘boilerplate’ that just says #ILOVECASUALFRIDAY. Seriously though, there’s something about wearing jeans to the office that just fills my heart with glee. Yes it really is that simple. Anyways I sometimes try to dress up the casual pants slightly with something a little more professional like this blazer, who’s getting major bonus points because it’s actually made of cotton. Comfort will always win in my book.

Sound off: what era do you belong in?

Day 290: Game Night

Thursday is GAME NIGHT! We have a great group of friends who host a game night every Thursday and it’s so much fun. When I first started playing, I wasn’t very good (Catan was my enemy) and I hate not being good at anything. Over time, I’ve gotten much better – you’re actually looking at the second-place winner of Ticket to Ride this week. Although I guess you’re not actually looking at me. And you probably won’t be reading me due to the sheer volume of nerdiness going on right now.

Today our office was FREEZING! Usually I’d be fine with this top and some pants but today I wore my office cardigan (and accidentally brought it home).

Sound off: What’s your favorite board game to play?

Day 286: Eleven

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m training for a half marathon. Our long runs are supposed to be on Saturdays, but given my state, I was NOT ready to run that far yesterday. So this morning I woke up early(ish) to tackle the 11 miles on my own. Shockingly, I actually ran really fast (and right past LB’s house)! I was super pumped – so I spent the rest of the day doing a little bit of nothing. Although, I am watching some dogs via Rover to make a little extra money for the wedding. I’ve watched these cute little schnauzers before – they’re super sweet and old.

Today it was pretty nice out, so I took advantage with a pair of shorts! This top is an awesome one I got from ThredUp a while ago – I’m such a bargain hunter and I LOVE getting quality things for less!

Sound off: anything you’re training for?

Day 274: Crashed

You know how I mentioned I moved up at work last week? The extra work paired with my super busy schedule the past week has finally caught up with me. I woke up slightly hungover (thanks Ryan) for a 5 mile run and stayed busy from there on out. When I got home from work around 7pm, I was ready for bed. I’m so lame.

I haven’t worn this bright blue sweater in a while, even though it’s one of my favorite colors! I match it with some fun printed pants and my favorite necklace my grandmother gifted to me.
