Day 332: Breaking the Challenge

As I alluded to yesterday, we are in North Carolina for a bit of a family emergency. When we got the call that we needed to come back to L’s hometown, both of us were a bit distraught. I’ve had some pretty bad packing jobs (see Portugal!), but this one may take the cake. For an especially chilly week, I managed to pack: 2 dresses, a short sleeve romper, a pair of jeans I can’t wear because of my skinned knee, and three sleep shirts. I’m not completely sure what world I was living in when I was packing, but I ended up in a tricky situation. Do I freeze my butt off (and look mildly inappropriate) or do I break the challenge? Unfortunately due to the title of this post, you’re probably figuring out I did the latter.

I tried to stay as cost efficient as possible and headed over to Old Navy (in L’s hometown, my options were Old Navy or Bass Pro). Nothing going to lie, when I was in the store, I had a light OMG I MISSED THIS MOMENT where I may or may not have smelled new clothing, but I’m going to table that for another day.  Anyways, I beelined it to the back clearance section, figuring if I’m going to break the challenge, the least I could do is spend minimal money. I ended up spending about $30 for a cardigan, a long skirt, black leggings, and a long sleeve shirt. While I’m obviously upset to have to shop, I’m writing this off as a one-time emergency and holding tight until the rest of the challenge is over!

Day 278: Expensive Sports Bra

Can we just talk about how freaking expensive sports bras are? It’s officially unfair. Now that I’m back into running, I needed to update my sports bra collection – most of which I’ve had since high school – eeek! I have one bra that I love: the Juno by Moving Comfort (no this isn’t sponsored in any way, I just truly LOVE the bra!), but those babies run around $50 a pop. When I told L, he almost self-combusted. He’s the type of guy who will super-glue his ten-year-old Nikes back together (true-story). Anyways, now that I got that rant out of the way – today was a super active day! We kicked off the day bright and early with a super successful 5k road race. It was L’s first one back since breaking his leg (yay) and it was my best time for a 5k since I was diagnosed with AS (double yay!). After our race, I put in another 6 miles for my half marathon training and then headed off to my weekly riding lesson. When I finally hit the couch after my super active day, I didn’t get up. #movienight for the win.

Today it was surprisingly warm, so I took advantage and wore shorts! This combo always reminds me of the beach with its light colors.

Day 266: Getting So Close!

I just realized today that I have LESS THAN 100 DAYS LEFT! I know the all-caps plus the exclamation point makes it seem like I’m yelling. That’s because I kinda actually am yelling. I can’t believe that I’m in the homestretch of this project – I’m starting to day dream about sniffing new clothes in the store and frolicking through websites to find some new digs. Yes, I sound like an addict. But it’s okay because it’s Monday and I need something to look forward to.

This dress felt a little Memorial Day/church outfit, so I needed some dark color and casual shoes to bring it back to workplace ready. It was a long day at work, so I loved that this dress was comfortable and flowy!

Sound off: where’s your favorite place to shop?

Day 80: Guilty Dreams

When I woke up this morning, I was super guilty about my dream last night. Isn’t there some saying that your dreams are manifestations of your waking life? I should ask my college roommate; she had a dream book and could decode any dream. Although I don’t think my dream last night was too complicated to figure out. I had a dream that I was at the mall and there were these really cute yellow, navy, and white shorts with little anchors and sail boats. I bought the shorts and then spent the entire rest of the dream feeling super guilty because of this little bloggy blog.
