Day 324: Singing Shows

Before my half marathon, I used to have speed work on Wednesday nights. Now I feel like I have so much time, so L and I are catching up on some new shows! A while back, we got really into The Voice. Ironically I grew up dreaming of being of Star Search, even though American Idol was my mom’s favorite TV show. We used to eat dinner in the living room on Tuesday nights so we could watch it as a family. My mom was probably one of ten people who actually watched the final season.

Today was a long day at work (mentally, not actually), so I was grateful to have this comfortable, oversized sweater!

Sound off: what’s your favorite reality show?

Day 319: Early Morning, Early Night

My day started incredibly early, so I guess it’s going to end pretty early as well! Today my plans for my Q3 marketing program were due – so my morning started at 3am. I don’t know why I’m so weird but I cannot stay up late to save my life; instead I always end up getting up super early instead. Anyways, my prep went great and my meetings went even better. Now I can’t wait to be lame and go to bed super early. The glorious life of a twenty-something.

Today comfort was paramount. I took advantage of casual Friday with my black jeans and paired it with a faux blazer that’s essentially a sweatshirt.

Sound off: Are you a night owl or early riser?

Day 318: Weird Day

The only accurate way I can describe my day is weird. My boss is off traveling so I came in later than usual. All day it felt like a Friday and I feel like in all of my meetings we didn’t accomplish our goals. After work, L came home later than you usually does. Our mail key didn’t work, so  I went to bed super early (because I’m going to have to get up crazy early to work on a work project). Any that’s pretty much it.

Today L told me that I looked like an 80’s baby with these wide(ish) leg pants and bell bottom shirt. Bottom line: I kinda like it! I got lots of compliments on these pants today and I love pairing bright colors with stripes.

Day 311: Beauty and the Beast

Today is the fabulous LB’s birthday. I don’t know what I would do without her in Atlanta – she’s been the perfect balance of wine and tequila for me. Anyways, for those of you who don’t know; LB is cardigan-loving, risk-adverse person – so it was fitting that we headed off the see Beauty and the Beast to celebrate! I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I saw the original Beauty and Beast until I realized I genuinely forgot half the storyline. The movie itself was pretty good (not tear-worthy, unless you ask LB). The best part was seeing LB’s excitement and spending time with the girls – I’m so lucky to have awesome friends here.

I worked from home in the morning – so to be honest I was in sweatpants and no bra for 90% of my day. Obviously that wasn’t quite fitting for the movie theater, so I changed into my favorite tank and jeans. At first I was super torn about what cardigan to toss on. White is my favorite but I’ve already worn that outfit! I landed on this coral, which actually looked a lot better than I thought it would.  Here’s to new combinations!

Day 306: Tax Refunds

The only part of tax season I like is getting my refund. L thinks of it a little differently – he takes an odd sense of pride in doing his taxes. Lucky for him, he’s more than welcome to take care of my taxes any day he pleases. Today I was supposed to help him, but I totally took a nap instead. Maybe it was just my manipulative plot to get L to take care of everything? Now I just need to sit back and wait for the refunds to hit. Although, with this challenge and our wedding budget, the whole thing is going into our savings. So unexciting.

These jeans that I’m wearing are my favorite weekend jeans – they’re just a touch loose with a few little rips. The top is like a sweatshirt that is actually designed to be worn out of the house – can’t complain here!

Sound off: what are you going to spend your refund on!

Day 298: After Hours Work Party

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I took over new responsibilities at my company. My friend and co-worker who previously had the role offered to teach me everything she knows about the position – so I brought the pizza and wine and she brought the knowledge. We spent the night reviewing all of documents that I’ll be taking over and going through the contacts I’ll need. Overall a super successful and productive night!

Casual Friday for the win! I matched a pair of crop jeans with my favorite comfortable flats and a New England classic sweater. My boss totally thought that it was a crawfish on my shirt (oh Southerners)!

Day 294: Bizarre Medical Issues

Today on my morning radio show, they were talking about embarrassing things they’ve had to tell their doctors. I couldn’t help but think back to my junior year of high school and what was probably one of the more embarrassing (medical) moments of my life. About mid-way through the summer, the front pad of my foot started to hurt pretty bad. I figured that I stepped on something while running around and it would eventually go away – wrong choice. About a month later, I had a huge painful lump on my foot and it hurt to even walk. My mom finally brought me to the doctor and they diagnosed me with a planter’s wart. When you’re in high school (okay and even now), no one wants to be told they have a wart! It took two months of laser therapy for it to finally go away! I was too embarrassed to admit the real reason why I had to sit out my fall cross country season, so I told our team I sprained my ankle falling off a horse.

Today I had meetings all day – so I needed to look nice! I love these baby heels; they’re just barely enough to make me seem important but not too tall that they hurt my feet.

Sound off: what’s your most embarrassing medical story?
