What an awesome, jam-packed Saturday! I kicked off my morning with 11 miles as part of my half-marathon training group. Even though I’m lightyears from where I used to be, I’m starting to feel really good about my running for the first time in a while. I can’t wait to see what my half marathon in March brings! After my morning run, I headed over to the barn for some much needed horse time. I’ve been unable to ride for a while since my weekends have been so jam-packed, but it was great to get back into the saddle.
Tonight we’re headed to L’s work ‘holiday’ party that’s been pushed a few times due to the ‘snow’ in Atlanta. It’s always fun to get dressed up and meet the folks L talks about at work. Last year they had a casino-themed party that was a lot of fun – especially when I beat L in poker. This year the party is apparently ‘interactive’ themed, so I have no idea what to expect. Imagine my surprise when we walked in on a ‘murder mystery’ theme that involved six of the hundred people at the event. At least the bar was flowing!
This dress was a hand-me-down that never quite fit me right. This past year, I finally bit the bullet and had it altered – boy, am I glad I did! It’s now my favorite cocktail dress! Someone needs to invite me to a wedding or L needs to take me out to dinner STAT.
Sound off: What’s your best company holiday story?

It’s been such a crazy month – I’ve been home twice for funerals (RIP LK and JJ) and lost a co-worker in Atlanta (RIP BC). L broke his tibia and I’ve been slammed at work. Between all of the craziness, I haven’t made it to the barn in way too long. As soon as I got there, I regretted all the time away. Anyone who’s ever ridden knows, at every barn there’s an eclectic group of individuals that ban together to form your ‘barn family.’ Here in Atlanta, my barn family includes an amazing group of women who are all strong, smart, and supportive. I was greeted back with lots of hugs and great life updates.
Reminder to self: get to the barn a lot more. It’s tough to be stressed or upset when you’re focusing on controlling a 2000+ pound animal.
After I made it home and showered, I changed into this comfortable outfit. It was perfect for cooking/baking and then lounging on the couch to watch Harry Potter with L. We actually had a somewhat chilly night, so these slippers were actually needed for once!
Sound off: what’s your escape?

I’ve always loved a good summer thunderstorm. I think it all started back when I lived on my parents’ horse farm. Whenever it started to lightning, we’d have to bring in all of the horses from their outside pens to inside the barn. It didn’t matter where you were or what you were doing (and I have the pictures to prove it), lightning meant we all unified to get horses inside ASAP.
Today is a bit different – I usually watch the storm from under our covered porch, but I still get the same sense of awe and appreciation. Added bonus of living in a condo complex – I also get to watch people comically dash for cover.
Well, at least until today. As per usual, I was watching the storm. All of a sudden, I heard L yell for me to get a bucket. We had a small leak at one of our air condition vent thingys.
So today I’m a bit torn about how I feel about these storms. Being an adult sucks.
Onto my outfit: today I worked from home due to my shot. Which means that until noon I was in my pjs from the night before when I realized I should try to be a real human. I tossed on these comfy, distressed boyfriend jeans and this loose fitting shirt. So this is at least one step above pjs, but feels just as comfy.

I don’t have anything super interesting to talk about so this is going to be a rambling post. Today after work I went to ride ‘my pony’ (air quotes until L lets me get a pony and the quotes go away) and ended up staying at the barn super late with my training and friend, while we swapped pony stories.
I’m not always as put together as my blog may lead you to believe (or at least that’s what I hope you think). I grew up on a horse and Christmas tree farm, so fashion was not my first thought ever. At least not until I went away to college – everyone dressed so cool and I didn’t have to be the ‘crazy-horse girl’ anymore. Now that I’m graduated and working, I’ve reverted back and there’s nothing I like better than getting out of the city and to the barn.
