Day 358: The Voice

I usually go for a run with my running partner in the morning, but I woke up feeling so sick I had to cancel. I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I ended up heading to the office to get through the heaps of things I have outstanding. It was another stressful, trying day, but at least The Voice is on tonight! I’m just trying to find the little things.

My mom got my this skirt a few years ago for my birthday. At first I didn’t love it and thought it was a little too long, but lately I’ve been really feeling it! It’s nice to have something for these ‘colder’ days – after all, it barely got above 70 degrees today here in Atlanta!

Day 352: Quarterly Meetings

Today is my favorite day of the quarter the division meeting day! In this meetings (which I wrote about here and here), we meet up with our counterparts from the other divisions and talk direct marketing strategy. Usually we get a night to hang out and catch up, but this time we headed straight back on a flight to Atlanta. We didn’t get in until almost midnight Atlanta time – I’m so happy I get to work from home (and sleep in a little!) tomorrow!

Usually, hotels are great for taking photos – not this one! The lighting was terrible! Oh well – today we have all day meetings and then am hopping on a late night flight, so I wanted to be comfortable!

Day 351: Flying to Denver

Travel day! I’m so excited – I’ve never been to Denver, Colorado and today I’m headed there! This is for our quarterly team meeting and it’s one of my favorite summits. I take a lot of pride in what I do and I love the opportunity to share. Plus it’s always nice to sleep in a hotel and grab a beer with some of my favorite colleagues who work in other cities!

I originally purchased for a business conference when I was in high school! It’s still one of my favorite skirts in my closet because it’s so comfortable and stretchy. I pair it with this loose fit, black top. Whenever I travel, I try to take the fewest amount of clothes as possible!

Sound off: where’s your favorite place you’ve traveled for work?

Day 350: Pre-work Travel

This week I’m traveling for work, so today is my prep day. Unfortunately mid-day I found out that my trip will be a little shorter than expected – originally we were going to stay in Denver for two days, but now we’ll be there less than 24 hours. Definitely not ideal, but I’ll make it work. Plus now I have an excuse to go back (and bring L!).

I haven’t worn this skirt in a while, so today I built my entire outfit around it! Per usual, my office is an ice box, despite it being super nice outside, so I definitely needed a cardigan.

Day 282: Treadmill Hogs

Waking up in a quiet hotel is one of the best feelings! Today I woke up bright and early to workout in the hotel gym to prep for my half marathon. I was shocked that at 6am the gym was popping. Even more unfortunate – there was a couple of chatty Cathy’s on the only two treadmills who were talking and walking slower than my grandma with one lung does. So after being relegated to the stationary bike, I still had the pleasure of hearing the two ladies talk through my headphones. Oh well.

Today I spend the entire day in meetings, but it was great to hang out with my counterparts from our other divisions. Not going to lie, I can’t wait to get home to my handsome fiancé!

Day 254: My Little Secret

I’ve got a little secret to confess. I go to bed early. Not like 10pm, like normal people my age – I’m a solid 8:30 lights-out kinda gal. I blame a little bit of my habit on my ankylosing spondylarthritis and some on my farm girl roots, but it’s a big deal if I’m up late.

Fast forward to tonight. I stayed up past 1am (yes, I’m getting my medal in the mail later this week). Right now I’m down in Delray Beach, Florida visiting printing houses for work. We’re staying in a gorgeous hotel not too far from the ocean with one of our vendors. Our night started at an old school arcade, which was awesome. Of course, I picked the one pinball machine without a beer holder and managed to spill my drink within .2 seconds. From there, we made our way to an amazing place for dinner. I ate about fourteen appetizers, but I’m pretty sure that calories don’t count when you’re out of your zip code. After dinner we ended up at a complete dive bar, pretending to smoke candy cigarettes and dancing. It’s the first time I’ve ever been to a bar in business casual – that’s for sure.

Onto my outfit! We flew down earlier this morning, so I wanted to wear an outfit that was comfortable but cute. I bought this skirt a while ago, but I’ve had trouble integrating it into my closet because it’s so poofy. I liked the combo with this navy slim fit shirt – I think I’m going to give this skirt a bit more consideration in the future. After all, it has pockets!

Sound off: what’s your ideal bedtime?

Day 89: Busy busy

It’s not even 7pm and I already feel like I’ve lived four days today. I popped out of bed at 6:30 to go ride ‘my’ pony (my is in quotes because she’s not technically mine – damn adulting). Our tenants  moved out today, so I finally got to clean my way – my condo would serve as a great cover letter for a job at Clorox. I also stained an outdoor table and refinished a bedside table. Now I’m on a plane to Chicago for a work event. On Friday one of my co-workers pointed out that I’m staying in ‘Viagra triangle’ where the men are old and rich and the girls are young and pretty.

So whenever I travel, I have a weird thing about bare feet going through airport security. It never bothered me until a friend mentioned how many nasty raw feet walked through the security line – that was enough to make me always travel in sneakers (or at least bring a pair of socks).  I’m always freezing on airplanes, so I always keep a spare cardigan too!

Anyone do something they’re proud of today – and yes, sleeping in past 9am is a completely acceptable answer.
