Day 334: College Roomie’s Birthday

It’s crazy how emotional and mental anguish can be more exhaustive than running a marathon. I didn’t realize how badly I needed sleep until I woke up this morning at 11am – which is incredibly late for me! As much as my body needed the sleep, my mind was still reeling. There was no better distraction than to celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays! My former roommate (the one who I went to Ithaca to see graduate) currently lives in Boston. I headed into the city to a rooftop bar, which was cold by Atlanta standards, but practically summer weather according to New England. We had lots of beer, some sushi, and lots of laughs. It was the perfect release and I’m so incredibly grateful for her friendship.

This was the only long sleeve shirt I packed – and I didn’t even realize it was in the bottom of my backpack! While I didn’t get any pictures of my bottom half, I’m still rocking the leggings I bought earlier this week because they’re the most comfortable with my knee scab. I know, I live a glamorous life.

Day 311: Beauty and the Beast

Today is the fabulous LB’s birthday. I don’t know what I would do without her in Atlanta – she’s been the perfect balance of wine and tequila for me. Anyways, for those of you who don’t know; LB is cardigan-loving, risk-adverse person – so it was fitting that we headed off the see Beauty and the Beast to celebrate! I didn’t realize how long it’s been since I saw the original Beauty and Beast until I realized I genuinely forgot half the storyline. The movie itself was pretty good (not tear-worthy, unless you ask LB). The best part was seeing LB’s excitement and spending time with the girls – I’m so lucky to have awesome friends here.

I worked from home in the morning – so to be honest I was in sweatpants and no bra for 90% of my day. Obviously that wasn’t quite fitting for the movie theater, so I changed into my favorite tank and jeans. At first I was super torn about what cardigan to toss on. White is my favorite but I’ve already worn that outfit! I landed on this coral, which actually looked a lot better than I thought it would.  Here’s to new combinations!

Sound off: are you going to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie?

Day 162: My Birthday!

Happy birthday to meeee! As much as I love birthdays, I’m starting to get to the oh shoot I don’t want to get any older stage. Today I am a quarter century old and that feels really old!

So my birthday started off with a bang. No literally – I got in a fender bender on my way to work. It wasn’t my fault and the lady behind me was not particularly nice. Meaning she yelled at me for involving the police to get a report. I’m sorry, lady, but maybe you should pay attention while driving your brand new Audi on the way to yoga.

Anyways, tonight LB and L are taking me out to dinner. I’m so excited. We’re going to try this place in Buckhead called The Big Katch. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but there is nothing I miss more than New England seafood.

For my birthday, I wanted to wear this dress because it makes me feel pretty. I paired it with a nice bright lip and some of my favorite shoes!

Day 159-160: Wineries and Breweries, Oh My!

This birthday weekend went way too fast! At least we had the most amazing time with the best group of friends! Along with the Core Four (L, PJ, and LB), my sister and friend from college flew down from Boston – plus my wubby and some new Atlanta friends came. We rented a huge house in Cumming, GA (we laughed about the name for ten minutes straight because we’re children) for Friday and Saturday night. After drinking and hanging out on Friday, we made our way bright and early to the Dalonega wineries!

Our first stop was Montaluce Winery, which was absolutely beautiful. Since we were the most sober here, we got the most pictures!

Day 159

From there we made our way to Wolf Mountain Vineyards. Because we had a huge group (and my little sister KK had the bright idea to call ahead), we ended up with this gorgeous little pavilion all to ourselves! Our server was absolutely awesome… and thus starts the decline of my vivid memories…

Day 159

Our last stop is actually the place I brought my mother a while back! At Kaya Vineyard & Winery only a few of us drank – most of us were tapped out at this point (myself included. Still the views were amazing and it was a perfect place to close out out little tour.

Day 159

From there we made our way back home to grill out and hang out. We stayed up way too late and had so much fun out on the deck in the perfect night. There was no better way to spend my birthday weekend!

Don’t ask me how we managed to make our way to a brewery after a weekend of drinking, but we did on Sunday! After an amazing brunch at one of our favorite Atlanta restaurants (Egg Harbor Cafe), KK and T wanted to explore some of our favorite places in Atlanta. Naturally we couldn’t do that without stopping at Sweetwater Brewery, the biggest brewery in Atlanta!

Day 160

Overall, the weekend was amazing and I’m so grateful for some of the best friends out there!

Day 117: Birthday Bash

Back in the day, I was an event planner and I love planning parties! My first job out of college was planning all the non-golfing aspects of Pro-Am golf tournaments in Jamaica and the West Indies. I loved it, but after a while the travel gets to you. I was to be home more than once a month and ready to commit to something like a goldfish.

Day 117

Anyways, tonight we’re celebrating L’s birthday with a bunch of friends. I’m all about themes, so L’s birthday was puppy themed. Yes, I got all of the party supplies out of the kid’s section at Party City. That’s just how I roll.

Birthday Bash

We had a great night with lots of wine, vodka-soaked gummy bears, and some beer pong. No better way to ring in getting older!

Day 117

Since it’s labor day weekend, technically we’re not supposed to wear white anymore so I took advantage of it!

Day 114: L’s Birthday!

Today is L’s birthday, so we went to bartaco for margaritas and tacos, with some amazing friends! I’m actually a bit of a cougar – L is almost two years younger than me.

LB and I were the first to arrive and totally did the annoying, “Can we sit here? No, we want to move to this table.” I waitressed in and after college, so I completely hate people like that. I remember my worst night serving. The mothers of some girls I went to high school came in and proceeded to pretend they didn’t recognize me. At the end of the night, one of the women mentioned that her daughter went to college so she didn’t have to wait tables. I couldn’t even believe it.

Anyways, happy birthday to L!

Day 114

Since I knew we were going out tonight, I wanted to dress cute! This dress is from a little boutique in Marblehead, Massachusetts – I absolutely love it.

So does anyone else have a job that you’re totally happy you’ve moved on from?
