Day 347: We’re Stressed Out

Today was so unnecessarily stressful. This morning I had an offsite meeting, but the address in the meeting invite was wrong! I parked way too far away and then got lost. After walking for 4 miles (according to my iPhone), I ended up at the meeting about 30 minutes late. Oops! After the meeting, I had a super stressful afternoon at work. I was absolutely exhausted by the time I got home – thank goodness L and PJ are driving as we head to Chapel Hill, NC tonight!

I wanted to dress cute and comfortable – but after my morning jaunt I was sweaty and had a blister from these shoes. From here on out, I’m going to wear sneakers to any meetings that might require walking!

Sound off: any great stress relievers you can recommend?

Day 346: Girl’s Night with LB

When all else fails, have a girl’s night! Thank goodness for LB – she’s been the most incredible friend over the past two years and I don’t know what I would do without her! She’s actually moving a few miles away in a few weeks, so I stopped by to help her pack up her kitchen and load up her car. We ended up at dinner and then polishing off a few glasses of wine, so I spent the night (probably for the last time!) at her place.

I love the bright pink in this outfit combo – it’s a surefire way to make me smile! Not going to lie, when LB and I went out to dinner, I wore the top half along with a pair of black shorts. Definitely a fashion statement, but not in a good way.

Sound off: what do you always do for your girl’s night?

Day 345: Being Brave (Or Maybe Dumb)

Last week I published a blog post that I never thought I would have the guts to publish. I feel like I spend half my time promoting my blog and the other half hoping that no one ever reads it. The past few weeks have been really tough on me and my family. I met up with a mentor to talk through everything that’s going on and she gave me the best advice. Right now while I’m struggling, I should focus on the things I can control: like eating healthy and exercising. I should spend time with my awesome fiancé and adorable dog. I should sleep eight hours and read books I like. Even if the ground starts to get a little unsteady, there’s power in doing the things I love. I’m not going to lie, lately, I’ve slipped with working out regularly and with having less than one glass of wine a night. I’m going to take control of the things I can and just breathe through the things I can’t.

These printed pants are glorified yoga pants, I swear! I matched them with this color chambray that’s also super comfortable.

Day 344: New Tires and Fake Optimism

I wanted to get into work a little early – which would have been pretty tough without a car. Thank goodness I have the best fiancé in the world who let me borrow his car and drop him off super early at work. He even picked up my car on his way home! Anyways, today we had an all-hands team meeting to review the new structure. Overall, the day was long and frustrating. Any change and uncertainty can be uncomfortable, but I’m still extremely concerned about the personalities. We’ll just have to see how this goes.

I once read an article (that I can no longer find) that the concept of “peacocking” is a real thing. Wearing distinguishable accessories or bright or bold colors can help people notice and remember you. Today I was very worried my voice would get lost in the shuffle, so I wore my brightest dress! Not sure if it actually worked, but at least I felt good!

Day 343: Carpool Life

Here’s to #carpool life. Thank goodness I have a co-worker who lives not too far away who is willing to let me crash her morning commute. Unfortunately for me, she needed to work late today, so I’m stuck hanging out at the office working on a few random things. At least I have the best fiancé in the world who not only helped coordinate getting my car towed but also went to the tire dealership to pick out tires for me. He totally has a lobster roll in his future!

Today I actually left home a little later than usual, so I had a little more time to try with my outfit. I love this color blue – it’s the brightest neutral I own!

Sound off: who in your life are you grateful for today?

Day 342: Teen Mom 2

This morning the sun was too bright, so I stayed in the dark with my dog Stormy, catching up on Teen Mom 2 and eating waffles in bed (they were whole wheat, so I think that makes them healthy?). Later on in the day, L came home from visiting his family. It wasn’t until he gave me a nice Easter basket with Swedish Fish that I even realized it was Easter. Times like this certainly make me miss my family (who was drinking mimosas on the beach, so I was extra jealous too). I stopped by LB’s house to pick up a few things I left the day before and ended up chatting with her for almost an hour. I was feeling great – my hungover was subsiding and the weather was perfect with a light breeze. About a half mile from my house, I noticed all the neighborhood kids playing on the playground while their parents grilled in the background. It was a great scene – until I hit the curb and blew out my tire. From here on out, I’m keeping my eyes on the road.

Today was a super mellow day, so I stayed in comfortable clothes all day. It’s actually starting to heat up around here – so I needed this tank!

Day 341: Wine Day

Based on my overflowing wine cabinet (which is actually just an entire cabinet in our already small kitchen dedicated to the 30+ bottles I own), it’s pretty clear that I love wine. So today when I found a local Wine Festival, I was super excited to go with my best friend LB and my new neighbor friend! We all met up right near Ponce City Market in Atlanta and it was a beautiful day – perfect for getting sunburnt and drinking wine. About three hours in, I slowly transition from pleasantly drunk to okay I need water and pizza STAT. I headed home and spent the rest of the night hanging out with Stormy and burning Trader Joe’s pizza. Days like this remind me that I’m not quite ready for #adulting 24/7.

The weather down here in Atlanta is GORGEOUS – so I took advantage! I paired my new shirt (story on why I broke the challenge here)  with an old pair of shorts and my favorite Adidas sneakers for a casual and comfortable outfit!

Sound off, what’s your favorite kind of wine?
