Day 361: Preparing!

It’s been a long week, so I’m excited to relax and prepare for our Kentucky Derby party! Today after work, L and I headed over to the grocery store to pick up some themed snacks (and booze!). We spent the rest of the night prepping food and cleaning. I love to clean and cook (insert domestic joke here), so it was a great night for me!

Sorry the picture quality is so bad! Our lighting was a little bit weird in the bedroom and Levi wasn’t home from work yet to help me out. Just take my word – I am actually wearing jeans and that cardigan is actually teal!

Sound off: do you have any sporting traditions?

Day 347: We’re Stressed Out

Today was so unnecessarily stressful. This morning I had an offsite meeting, but the address in the meeting invite was wrong! I parked way too far away and then got lost. After walking for 4 miles (according to my iPhone), I ended up at the meeting about 30 minutes late. Oops! After the meeting, I had a super stressful afternoon at work. I was absolutely exhausted by the time I got home – thank goodness L and PJ are driving as we head to Chapel Hill, NC tonight!

I wanted to dress cute and comfortable – but after my morning jaunt I was sweaty and had a blister from these shoes. From here on out, I’m going to wear sneakers to any meetings that might require walking!

Sound off: any great stress relievers you can recommend?

Day 340: Escape Room

L has been itching to do an escape room forever, so we jumped at the chance to play with one of PJ’s friends. We headed a touch outside the city to an office park to participate. While waiting for the whole group to arrive, we found out that our room has a 30% success rate! Once everyone showed up, we headed to the room. It was lots of fun – even though we barely missed getting out by a few minutes. L’s still beating himself up!

Today was my beloved casual Friday! I matched these comfortable colored jeans with a fun printed top. I’m not going to lie, when we headed over to the escape room, I swapped the pants out for a pair of shorts in the same color!

Sounds off: have you ever done an escape room?

Day 326: Atlanta Braves

My company is a big sponsor of the Atlanta Braves, who are about to kick off their inaugural season at SunTrust Park! Today we celebrated a great 2016 by heading over to a Braves exhibition game against the New York Yankees (which made it VERY easy to cheer for the Braves!). Although we did have to work until 3pm, it was great to hang out and network with co-workers while drinking beer and watching baseball. I might even call this the American Dream!

Our shirts were provided by our company – so we did look a little bit like easily-identifiable campers. Above I’m pictured with my hands-down favorite co-worker. She keeps me sane and completely understands my love-hate relationship with Jimmy Johns!

Sound off: who’s your favorite sports team?

Day 319: Early Morning, Early Night

My day started incredibly early, so I guess it’s going to end pretty early as well! Today my plans for my Q3 marketing program were due – so my morning started at 3am. I don’t know why I’m so weird but I cannot stay up late to save my life; instead I always end up getting up super early instead. Anyways, my prep went great and my meetings went even better. Now I can’t wait to be lame and go to bed super early. The glorious life of a twenty-something.

Today comfort was paramount. I took advantage of casual Friday with my black jeans and paired it with a faux blazer that’s essentially a sweatshirt.

Sound off: Are you a night owl or early riser?

Day 313: Atlanta United

To L’s delight, soccer is officially sweeping Atlanta! This is the inaugural season of our first soccer team: Atlanta United. Atlanta is considered a transplant city – many residents grew up in other cities with existing sports alliances. Within the city there’s not a huge sense of Atlanta sports fandom (however, wander just outside the perimeter and you’ll find a completely different story). Since so few cities even have a professional soccer team, everyone in the city is really rallying around ‘our’ team. When tickets were offered up at my office, I quickly snagged them!

Today we watched the game with some new Atlanta friends and it was SO MUCH FUN! Any opportunity to drink beer and yell loudly is a win in my book. Bonus points to the fire show every time there’s a goal.

L is already a huge soccer fan and he was so excited for the game he bought me this Atlanta United shirt! I’m counting it as not cheating for this challenge since I didn’t actually buy it 😉

Sound off: What’s your favorite sports team?

Day 312: St. Patty’s Day

Not going to lie, I spent from 2pm onward dreaming about a Guinness. On my dad’s side of the family, we’re half Irish and half Portuguese. Couple my heritage with growing up just outside of Boston and you’ll understand why St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal for me! Although I haven’t really been drinking in preparation for my half marathon this weekend, I’m totally cracking a Guinness this afternoon.

I had to wear green for St. Patty’s day – although technically you’re only supposed to wear green if you’re Catholic. As an added bonus, this cardigan is super comfortable!
