What a mess of a weekend for airlines! Although I know Delta is having serious issues across the board, but I just need to vent about one of America’s least favorite airlines: Spirit.
My mom was supposed to fly into Atlanta from Boston at 4:44pm. My own flight from a work event was supposed to leave at 8:30pm her time. While I was en route to the airport, my mom texted me that her flight was delay until 6:30. Then it moved to 7:30, then 8:30pm.
My flight was slightly delayed, but as I was about to board, my mom let me know she was finally boarding herself (after six hours at the airport).
Fast forward two hours and I’m on the ground in Atlanta with a missed call from my mom. Apparently once she boarded, they asked the folks who had connecting flights to hop off to be rescheduled. Once those folks were off the plane, they kept my mother on the plane for another half hour, until they decided to cancel it. Spirit didn’t apoloigize.
Once she got off the plane, they offered to reschedule her flight to Wednesday night. Even though that was four days away. Even though she was set to come back to Boston on Wednesday. Huh?
When she brought up her return flight, they kindly offered to move it to later on Wednesday night – another huh moment.
So ten hours at the airport and a completely canceled vist, and the best Spirit could offer my mom was a $50 voucher.
Moral of the story: daughters don’t let their mothers fly Spirit.
Anyways, today I was actally in Chicago for an event at work. I always like to have a sweater for events so I can stay warm and I have a personal rule to not wear heels at events over eight hours.
On the plus side, I got to meet some of the cast of the Chicago Med team!
Anyone else still recovering from airline mishaps?
